The first is a line we will not cross. The other two are the standard we hold ourselves to.
We do not negotiate for either side, put the deal together, prepare the paperwork, or push anyone towards signing. Once we have introduced two parties, they carry on with their own solicitors and advisers. We hold that line whether or not it suits us — it is what keeps everyone, including us, on the right side of the rules.
The cost of a bad introduction is not the fee. It is the trust that made the introduction possible in the first place, and that takes years to rebuild. We would rather send nothing for six months than send one thing we did not believe in.
Businesses rarely struggle because nobody did the sums. They struggle because the sums were done by people who already knew the answer they wanted. So we spend our time on how choices are framed, who is in the room, and what is not being said.
The first conversation is unhurried and costs nothing. We are working out whether there is anything here worth doing.
